[ARCHIVED] City Monitoring Tropical Storm Beta

td 22

League City’s Emergency Management Office, in collaboration with the Houston-Galveston branch of the National Weather Service, is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Beta. The storm has the potential for heavy rain and coastal flooding in our area. According to the National Weather Service, coastal flooding could be expected starting Sunday night and heavy rains could impact our area through next week.

Locally, most heavier rain will occur Monday through Wednesday morning. Amounts of 10 to 15 inches are possible in coastal counties, and 6 to10 inland over a three-day period.

With localized street flooding as a possibility, City Public Works crews will be working ahead of the storm to clear ditches and drains. Traffic crews are preparing to redirect traffic and close roads as needed. The City will continue to provide updates to residents as the storm develops through social media and the City’s website once more information is available.
