The City of League City recently selected Robert ‘Bob’ Kinsey to serve as the new Chief Building Official beginning Jan. 9.
In this position, Kinsey will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the building department. He is also charged with ensuring compliance with the city’s adopted building codes and investigating and mediating code compliance issues with developers, contractors and the general public.
“I’m excited to work for the second fastest growing city, League City,” said Kinsey. “I look forward to working with the building community and furthering the strong development of the community.”
Kinsey served as the Building Official and Floodplain Administrator for the City of New Braunfels for nearly 11 years prior to being selected for this position. His responsibilities included serving as the project manager for the construction of city’s Civic Center and Fire Station #6 LEED prototype, day-to-day management of the Building Department, reviewing and evaluating development proposals, and floodplain prevention. He also served as the city’s interim Planning Director for more than 14 months.
Other responsibilities throughout his career include various aspects of project management, permitting procedures, general construction, issuing contracts, compiling bid packages, plumbing, code administration, and code enforcement issues throughout his career.

Kinsey holds certifications as a Building Official, Fire Plans Examiner, Plumbing Inspector, and Floodplain Manager.
