How long have you been working for the Police Department and how did you start?
I started with LCPD in 1992 as a dispatcher. In 1993, I was hired as a patrol officer. During my time with LCPD I have also served as Community Outreach Officer, Dare Officer, Training Officer, Detective, and now Public Information Officer. I am a Police Instructor and Firearms Instructor.
How do you feel about becoming the new PIO for the League City Police Department?
I am excited about the possibilities afforded in my position as PIO. I like being able to promote LCPD and inform the public about everything that we do. There are so many positive aspects of LCPD that the public is not aware of.
You currently also are going to school, tell us about that:
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and actually retired for 93 days in 2016 to follow my love of teaching to an elementary school. I finished my contract and came back to LCPD. I am very involved in Clear Creek Community Church here in League City. I currently serve as the First Impressions Coordinator involved in welcoming people to the church and some of the Sunday activities and serve as needed in the Student Ministry. Because of my involvement in CCCC, I felt compelled to get a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry. I will graduate in May from Liberty University.
You keep pretty busy outside of the PD, tell us about your outside activities:
Police officers always have a second job. I have been a realtor for seven years specializing in residential home sales. I stay very busy in the League City area helping people find homes for their family.
Tell us about your family life:
I would not be able to be involved in as much if it was not for my wonderful and supporting wife, Anne. We have been married for 10 years and have three kids. I would not be where I am today if it was not for her.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
When not working at LCPD, real estate or helping and my church, I enjoy board games, movies, and hanging out with my friends. I also collect Vintage Star Wars toys from my childhood in the 70’s.
Fun fact about yourself:
In 1997, I bought LCPD.com and created the first law enforcement website in Galveston County. A few years later I gave the URL to the city.
