  1. League City Music Fest & BBQ Cook Off

    Live music from national recording artists to graduates of the School Rock will transform the normally tranquil meadows of Walter Hall Park into a musical smorgasbord ranging from reggae to rock, country to folk. The 65th Annual League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q Cook-off, May 2-5, brings friends and families together for live music, good food, and lots of fun. The annual event, previously known as the “Village Fair” is hosted by the League City Lions Club as a fundraiser to provide support services for local charities. National country recording artist Jerrod Niemann and throwback cover band Bag of Donuts will headline the 65th Annual League City Music Festival & BBQ Cook-off.In addition to live music, more than 100 teams will compete in an IBCA sanctioned BBQ cook-off featuring chicken, ribs, brisket, and chili categories with a $10,000 guaranteed total cash payout.   3. Astronomy in the Park

    May 4, 2019, 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM @ Rustic Oaks Park

    Join us at the Rustic Oaks Park on the first Saturday of every month from April to November for a totally free and fun evening of amateur astronomy rain or shine. Besides current celestial events, we typically show: • A 100’ model of the solar system (Sun to Mars – Jupiter and Saturn in the distance) around 7:00pm for kids of all ages in the summer (before night fall) • Major constellations and asterisms and their legends • Telescope observation of the stars and visible planets • Binocular astronomy demonstrations • Computer displays of free astronomy software, DVDs and presentations in the shelter when the weather is bad. • Q&A with amateur astronomers and scientists • Flyers describing the moon and its phases, the scale of the solar system, the major constellations and asterisms visible now, a list of relevant URLs, free software from the net, etc. Contact: Daniel M.
