AmeriWaste takes over May 1

Starting May 1, AmeriWaste will become the primary trash provider for League City’s 32,000 plus residential and commercial customers. To make trash pickup more efficient, the city will now be sectioned into three trash zones, rather than the current two. Type in your address in the interactive map below to determine your zone.

The zone boundaries were set based on major roadways to make it easier for residents to determine which zone they live in. With the creation of the three zones, many customers will have different days for trash pickup.

Trash Pickup Days

Yellow Zone—Mondays and Thursdays

Green Zone—Tuesdays and Fridays

Blue Zone—Wednesdays and Saturdays

Trash pickup will be between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on pickup days and customers are asked to have their trash cans to the curb by 7 a.m. on their designated days.

Aside from the new zones, the biggest change will be a new and improved recycling pickup service. Resident’s current recycling bins are being replaced by 48-gallon closed, wheeled carts which will allow for more recycled items to be disposed of and prevent weather conditions from blowing items into roadways and yards. Recyclable items should be  placed directly into the cart, there is no need to put them in a bag.

AmeriWaste is in the process of delivering recycling carts to those residents who have requested one. Please be patient, as the list of households requesting a cart is much higher than anticipated. Until you receive your cart, you can place recyclables in a clear, plastic bag that can be purchased at a local hardware or discount retailer.

If you would like a cart, and have NOT already requested one, call AmeriWaste at 281-585-3200 or email them at leaguecity@ameriwaste.net

Republic is in the process of collecting their recycle bins. To have yours collected, please leave the bin at the curb.

Another new feature starting May 1 will be an on-demand household special collections program. Residents will be able to make a phone call to dispose of refrigerators, freezers, televisions, computers and paint. AmeriWaste will also conduct a yearly hazardous waste collection for League City residents.
