City-Wide Debris Removal Effort Coming to an End

LEAGUE CITY, TEXAS – The City of League City announced that effective on Friday, November 3, at 5 p.m., all debris removal by CrowderGulf (the City’s debris removal contractor) will come to an end.

Removal efforts have reached the point that a majority of the storm debris has been removed throughout the city. New construction materials are being mixed into the few remaining concentrations of storm debris that remain. Loads that contain new construction materials are being disallowed by the monitoring company and therefore are not eligible for FEMA funding reimbursement.

City officials are emphasizing that it is the obligation of the homeowner and their contractor to dispose of all new construction related debris and that co-mingled debris will not be picked-up by CrowderGulf or Republic Services.

Any remaining debris not pushed up into the Rights-of-way must be moved as soon as possible as crews are making their final city-wide efforts now and will not make additional passes through completed neighborhoods.

The patience of League City residents that have been impacted by this historic rainfall event has been greatly appreciated.  The cooperation and public spiritedness of our citizens directly contributed to debris removal going quicker and smoother than anticipated.

City crews will be placing portable message signs at key neighborhood entrances informing residents of the impending deadline with additional information being shared on the city website (www.LeagueCity.com), social media and in the press. For additional information call 311 or 281-554-1488.
